Author, lecturer, community advocate, and family historian Aaron L. Day, is a lover of books, supporter of libraries, and promoter of family history research. He specializes in – the search for free African American Ancestors (pre-1865). Many people are surprised to learn that about a half million, almost one-seventh of the African Americans of this country, were free long before the end of the Civil War in 1865.

The following pages contain information about Aaron, including his latest book “Locating Free African American Ancestors: A Beginner’s Guide. 

His first award-winning short story for a national writing contest “Tracing My African American Ancestors” is highlighted, as well as some of his other articles. Information about his second award-winning essay for a national writing contest "The Search For Free African American Ancestors" is also included. Information is also given about his genealogy workshops and tours in the Southern California area. His volunteer activities for the library and the community are also featured.
